Well, baby boy has a case of the 'Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease'. He's had it for about 3 or 4 days now, except dum dum mommy thought it was just fever rash at first. Then the bumps got worse and blistery and I knew it was definitely not just a fever rash, so we went to urgent care yesterday and they diagnosed him with HFMD. Unfortunately there is not much to do for him besides wait it out. I THINK we may have gotten the worst over with, but I can't speak too soon. Last night he seemed so uncomfortable trying to get to sleep---just cried and cried--I felt utterly helpless. His spots seem to look a lot worse than they are--they don't seem to bother him and luckily he just has one or two tiny sores in his mouth so he is still eating ok. It sounds so scary to say my baby has a 'disease'! This disease should only last about five more days though if we are lucky---and lucky enough not to get it ourselves! Here are a few pictures of what this whole HFMD looks like on him.
My boy always almost always has a smile on his face though! My little trooper!
Please send up some prayers for Everett!
He's definitely in my prayers! Poor little dear!!
ReplyDeletePoor guy! Hope he's on the mend soon!
ReplyDeleteYou're not a "dumb dumb" Mommy --- just maybe get tired of calling doctors. I remember when my 3 year old cut his foot, and my husband insisted I take him to the emergency room (for some reason that's my job while he stays home with our other son) and I kept saying, oh, it will stop bleeeding eventually...luckily I gave in and took him because he needed stitches and foot cuts can get infected quickly! Our mommy instincts just don't always kick in right away ...but we ain't dumb!
