Run fast for your mother.

So, I've been getting back into running again for the past month or so to start the process of shedding about 20 lbs. to fit into my wedding dress again for our 'wedding re-do pics' (don't get me started on that explanation, believe me it's best if i don't.)  While running tonight and listening to my ipod, I was thinking about my workout playlist and how only a few of the songs are my real hit the pavement--get 'er done--can't feel the pain from running when I hear them--songs.  I have three in particular I feel like sharing.

1.  "Dog Days are Over"--Florence + The Machine

This just seems like such a happy and positive song.  I say I think because really I can only understand about 3/4 of what she is singing, but if the 'dog days' are over it can't be a bad thing right?  Also the beat and musicality of this song is just the perfect pace and gives me momentum.  And you better believe, when Florence tells you to "run fast for your mother, fast for your father, run for your children, for your sisters and your brothers..." you do what Florence says!

2.  "All These Things That I've Done"--The Killers

"I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier"....'nuff said! Again, the drums and the beat of the song--love it!

3.  "Fix You" --Coldplay

A little unusual for a workout playlist right? This is my favorite song to get me pumped and motivated though.  Not because of the words (really it seems quite depressing) and not for much of the music, but the last about 2 minutes of the song.  The guitars come in...then the drums and it makes my body feel fast and painless and I run like it's my job!  It's when I visualize sprinting through finish lines and passing dozens beside me along the way.  And you better bet when I have the opportunity to do races, I am listening to this song at the very end.  Every time.  I fast forward to the build up.  Seriously, go listen to it---crank it in your ear phones and you listen to that last couple minutes and tell me it doesn't make you wanna go run.

There it is folks, my TOP 3!  What are your top running/workout songs?

  1. Stronger by Kanye. Not the most appropriate words but it's a killer kick in the pants. Fireword by Katy Perry. Let's get "it started" by Black Eyed Peas. Love your first choice too! Have fun getting out there girl!
