Ask Mom: Potty Training.

Being a first time mommy, I am experiencing all stages of development for the first time!  I know one of the next biggies is potty training.  Yikes!  Everett is only 1.5, so I'm not stressing now, but it's going to come fast and I'd like to know all of the facts before I get there.  I know boys and girls go through potty training at different times usually---boys being a bit later.  What is too early to start?  Too late?  What is the best way to go about the transition?  Lots of questions.....so.....

Tell me about potty training!

  1. Hi
I don't know if this helps you a bit:) I was a babysitter ( AU PAIR) in the US and I had to take care of a little boy. He was 1.5 as I got there. I left when he was 3. I started the potty training It was a bit difficult for the first 2 months but after he got used to sit it was great. He had his own toilet ( a great feeling for him ! ) and I tried to keep him him to sit there and to pee by singing with him or playing little games... or he watched a little cartoon and was laughing and it was easy to pee. At the age of 3 we got him a little toilet seat that you can put on top of the normal size toilet so he felt like a grown up - it was fun.

    Have a great Sunday! :)

  3. Hey Laura! It's funny you ask this because we just finished potty training Greta and I was thinking about blogging about it soon. So much info to share. We started when she was ready (asking to go potty, holding her pee for long periods of time, able to pull her own pants off) and then we dove right in. We spent about two weeks just practicing going potty. She is young but she's also a lady (and yes, girls typically potty train earlier than boys). So I would say this- wait until he's pushing you for it. If you push for it you'll only regret it. I'll hopefully blog about it soon! Hope you are all well!
P.S. I think you're an awesome mom! I love how much you reach out!
