Summer Getaway 2016: Mackinaw City | Mackinac Island

A couple of weeks ago, the mister and I took special trip out of our norm of camping and road tripped it to Mackinaw City, Michigan.  Once we got there, we had to cross over THE bridge from the Upper Peninsula to the lower.  It's one of the longest in the world and I may have cussed a little bit while driving over it--don't judge, I was frightened for my life.

We stayed at a quaint little mobile home right near the strip and could walk to EVERYTHING.  It was amazing.  We learned about a lot of the history of the city and the island and saw some pretty cool historical sites and attractions.  I loved watching the local Karaoke show and just hanging out people watching.

The island was as blissful as I thought it'd be and riding a tandem bike the 8 miles around it was my favorite part.  Besides its glorious views and timeless appeal, it's also rich in fudge, candy and t-shirt shops! :P

I would definitely love to go back to visit Mackinaw again as well as more of the lower peninsula.  But one 17 hour round trip road trip per summer is good enough for me for now!
